Pelosi Praises Massive Stimulus

US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi

Speaker Nancy Pelosi is praising efforts to craft a massive economic stimulus package, which will be considered by the House tomorrow.

She noted strong bipartisan support for the measure in the House. The Senate passed the roughly two trillion dollar bill late last night. Pelosi said Senate Democrats succeeded in changing the focus of the bill, putting workers and families first instead of putting corporations first.

Pelosi said efforts to get more coronavirus tests, masks and ventilators must be ramped up. She argued that everyone who needs to be tested should have access to a test. Pelosi called the coronavirus an unprecedented public health crisis. She insisted that the national response to the crisis must be guided by science.

President Trump is expected to sign the measure after passage by the House.

The measure now heads to the House of Representatives, where a Democratic leader said he expected it to pass by voice vote March 27 before it goes to President Donald Trump for his signature.
