The death toll related to the polar vortex is going up. At least seven people are dead as record low temperatures hover over the Midwest. Several states are experiencing temperatures as low as negative-40 degrees caused by arctic air passing through in the form of a polar vortex. The National Weather Service says the polar vortex system coming from the north is one of the coldest arctic air mass intrusions in recent memory.
