Verizon is being blamed for hampering efforts to battle the Mendocino Complex fire in Northern California after they slowed down the speed of the departments wireless data service. In a federal court filing this week, Santa Clara County Fire Chief Anthony Bowden says the fire department's connection was "throttled down" to a tiny fraction of previous speeds. Bowden explained "Verizon imposed these limitations despite being informed that throttling was actively impeding county fire's ability to provide crisis-response and essential emergency services." Verizon has admitted to making a mistake.
