School Apologizes for Dragging Students off Stage at Graduation

University of Florida President Kent Fuchs found himself apologizing for the actions of a white usher during the graduation ceremonies last week.

While graduates danced to celebrate their achievements during a spring commencement ceremony a white usher was seen forcefully pushing the students to get off the stage.

Fuchs acknowledged that the school had been “inappropriately aggressive” when rushing graduates across the stage.

A video has stirred controversy online amid suggestions that the white usher was motivated by race because the students were black.

Fuchs said the hands-on removal process would be banned from future ceremonies.

Do you think the pushing by the usher was racially motivated by watching the video? What did you do on stage when receiving your diploma?
