Trump: Don't Get In The Way Of Our World Cup Bid

The U.S., Canada, and Mexico have a joint bid to host the 2026 World Cup.  And President Trump doesn't anyone interfering with it.

In a tweet Friday, Trump called the joint bid "STRONG" and added "It would be a shame if countries that we always support were to lobby against the U.S. bid."  Trump added "Why should we be supporting these countries when they don't support us (including at the United Nations)?

The only other county bidding for the 2026 World Cup is Morocco.  FIFA officials will meet June 13th in Moscow to make their decision.

President Trump's youngest son Barron is an avid soccer fan and plays for a D.C. United academy team.

Could Trump's tweet be interpreted as a threat to nations that vote against the World Cup bid?  Will his tactics work?
