People are really upset with a Fresno State professor's comments made just after former first lady Barbara Bush died last week. A petition is circulating demanding her firing and it's reached 10,000 signatures.
English professor Randa Jarrar called Bush "an amazing racist" on Twitter just hours after the news broke about her passing. When called out for the insensitive comments, Jarrar doubled down and said she couldn't be fired because she has tenure.
The petition asks the university for the "Immediate termination of Professor Randa Jarrar for racism and inflammatory comments regarding a former First Lady of the United States, Barbara Bush."
Jarrar is currently on leave from the school for the semester.
Is it necessary to demand someone be fired for holding an opinion outside the majority? Or did the professor go too far in her comments?
