House Punishes Memphis for Removing Confederate Statues

The Mayor of Memphis is not pleased that lawmakers cut the city's funding yesterday because of the removal of two Confederate monuments.

An amendment added to a House appropriations bill strips away $250,000, money that was earmarked for an upcoming bicentennial celebration and will now go to the Tennessee Department of Tourism.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe account, called The Memphis Budget Replenishment, was established today to cover the money stripped from Memphis.
