Jobless Claims Drop to More Than 45-Year Low

 

In February, for a second straight month, consumer spending rose marginally as households boosted savings, the latest indication that the economy lost momentum in the first quarter.

But the economy still appears to be strong as the number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits dropped to more than a 45-year low last week.

Economists are predicting that wage growth will be seen in the second half of this year because of a tightening labor market.
