At least 6 people are confirmed dead after an Amtrak derailment this morning in Washington State.
Thirteen cars jumped the track. The train had 14 cars, including two engines, said Brook Bova of the Washington State Patrol
At least 77 people have been taken to local hospitals.
The train was traveling southbound from Seattle when it went off the tracks this morning just before reaching one of two bridges over I-5 about 40 miles south of Seattle.
No fatalities of motorists have been reported at this time.
Amtrak says the derailed Cascades Train 501 running from Seattle to Portland was carrying approximately 78 passengers and five crew members.
The A.P is reporting that the preliminary investigation is showing the train may have hit something on the tracks before derailing.
