At Trump's West Virginia rally, Democratic Governor Jim Justice, who was elected last November, said he was switching parties to become a Republican. He said, "Now, today I'll tell you, with lots of prayers and lots of thinking, today I tell you as West Virginians, I can't help you anymore being a Democrat governor. So tomorrow, I will be changing my registration to Republican." The 66-year-old businessman was elected in his first run for statewide office nine months ago with 49 percent of the vote. When he announced his candidacy in May 2015, Justice said he'd changed his party registration multiple times, but was, quote, "much more suited to be a Democrat because I truly want to be the person who is trying to take up for the little guy."
