Could Kid Rock be the next celebrity who wants to run for office? After the website "Kid Rock for Senate" popped up, the 46-year-old musician tweeted yesterday (July 12th), "I have had a ton of emails and texts asking me if this website is real. . . . The answer is an absolute YES." He added, "I will have a major announcement in the near future."

The Michigan native would be running for U.S. Senate in his state next year. The site doesn't have much information, just a link to buy "Kid Rock for U.S. Senate" merchandise and a sign-up for email updates. Skeptics noted that Kid Rock only confirmed that the website was real, not the campaign, and that the merchandise link redirects to his Warner Bros. Records website, suggesting the whole thing could be a marketing ploy. Further boosting the skeptical view, CNN noted that there is no Federal Election Committee records filed under "Kid Rock" or  his legal name, Robert Ritchie, and the deputy chief of staff for the Michigan Republican Party told them, "We have not had any conversations with Kid Rock so I cannot speak to the validity of this." Kid Rock is a supporter of President Trump, who performed at last year's Republican National Convention and visited the White House in April with Sarah Palin and Ted Nugent
