Man Sues American Airlines After Sitting Next To Two 'Grossly Obese' Passengers

An Australian man is suing American Airlines for $100,000, charging that being forced to sit next to what he calls two "grossly obese" passengers on a 14-hour flight from Sydney to Los Angeles aggravated his back problem, and he's suffered from back injuries, neck pain and discomfort since the December 2015 flight. Michael Anthony Taylor says that the bodies of the passengers, quote, "spilt over and encroached" into his seat, and he had to "stand up, crouch, kneel and lean forward" during the long flight. The suit says he repeatedly asked crew members if he could change seats, but was told no. Heat Street notes that the lawsuit says Taylor was actually in a window seat, even though it contends there were two obese passengers causing the problem, and speculates that one of them was crushing into the other, causing the one next to Taylor to push even more into his space.
