Sen. Marco Rubio, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, joins TODAY live to comment on the U.S. missile strike on Syria. He says the strike was legal and in America’s national security interest. He says the Russians got a “heads up” about the strike in advance: “We’re not at war with Russia.”
The U.S. launched a cruise missile attack on an air base in Syria last night (April 6th) in response to the chemical attack on Syrian civilians Tuesday that killed 72 people, including many children, which the U.S. says was carried out by President Bashar al-Assad's forces. The 59 Tomahawk missiles launched from two U.S. naval vessels hit the air base where American officials say the Syrian planes that dropped the chemical weapons had taken off. The Syrian military said at least six people were killed.
