City leaders defy White House threat on "sanctuary" policies

During a gathering of municipal officials from San Francisco, Seattle, Denver, Chicago and Philadelphia, city leaders promised they’ll refuse to allow city police departments and federal immigration authorities to cooperate. They also entertained the idea of using the cities’ oversight and subpoena powers in order to investigate federal immigration practices.

Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito responded to Attorney General Session's threats to defund Sanctuary Cities all over the country, Monday afternoon.

“It’s really sad that the security of our city, the security of our country, will be put at stake, to just meet a campaign promise to a dwindling base.”
