Facebook is stepping into the employment arena, letting businesses post job openings and people apply for positions on the social network. Businesses will now be able to post job listings, track applications and communicate with applicants through their Facebook pages. People looking for jobs can apply for positions by clicking the "Apply Now" button, and Facebook will auto-fill some of the public information from their profile. A new "Jobs" tab is also being added to Facebook. VP of ads and business platform Andrew Bosworth told USA Today that it's aimed at small and mid-size businesses that usually have a hard time finding the right people to hire, particularly part-time and hourly workers. He also said that some businesses were already posting job openings on their Facebook pages, and this is just giving them an easier way to do it. However, USA Today notes that some Facebook users might find it awkward to apply for jobs on a site they normally use for social interaction as opposed to a social network intended for that, like LinkedIn.
