A survey conducted by Pennsylvania State University reveals 75 percent of adults start with a strong resolution to lose weight and get fit, and 20 days later they give into temptation and eat forbidden foods. Foods people can't resist include chocolate, pizza and Chinese food. Also, 20 percent of those who swore off alcohol for the month of January will have a drink tonight. A third of those who fall off the diet wagon today say they'll kick things back into high gear before their summer vacation. The poll of 2,000 British adults uncovered that on average, people have tried to diet 19 times in their lifetime. Study leader Professor Barbara Rolls adds, "People often fail when they embark on a very strict or limited diet as cutting out foods leaves people feeling hungry and deprived - and therefore more likely to fall off the wagon."
