SPURS POSTGAME QUOTES

Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich

(On the overall game…)

“They’re doing what they can. It’s one of those games. We had more fast break points, we had more second-chance points, we had fewer turnovers, we had more points in the paint, but shot 20 something [percent] from three and they shot 50 [percent] or something like that. Game over. The new NBA.”

Spurs Center Zach Collins

(On difficulty getting to the middle with Kristaps Porzingis there…)

“I don’t know if it was getting to the middle, but once we got to the middle, he was able to play in between. He’s super long and he can do that. Even when we were cutting to the middle, his arm just happened to be there for a couple of passes that are usually open. So, we definitely felt it out there.”

(On their performance at the 3-point line and how that’s a reflection of today’s NBA game…)

“If you’re not going to shoot well, it certainly makes the margin of error that much smaller. We’ve had a lot of games like that this year where we play really well. Some of the stats [Coach Popovich] told us in the locker room are we beat their points in the paint, more fast break points, less turnovers, and when you do things like that, you put yourself in a position to win. But when we shoot 24% from three in today’s game, it’s tough.”
