The November midterms are now just 32 days away, and the last day to register to vote is Monday October 5th. And if you live in Harris County? There is currently a back log of roughly 75,000 applications.
"There was some sort of glitch" said Cindy Siegel, Chairman of the Harris County Republican Party, "And it comes at a really busy time already. It definitely puts some pressure on the process and the system."
Especially, considering all of the election issues Harris County has had in recent years. So how did they get such a massive backlog?
"It's one of those things where everyone is pointing fingers at the other, but according to the Tax Assessor it was definitely at the state level" Siegel told KTRH.
A disappointing turn of events, ahead of a critical election.
"It is disappointing, I would just encourage people to double check your voter registration, which is always probably a good idea to do before voting" noted Siegel.
She says the best place to do so is at Harris Votes. Early voting begins on October 19th.
