Trump Talks Crime, Says U.S. "Owns Strait of Hormuz"

President Trump spoke in Nassau County, N.Y., on Long Island, to highlight his administration’s efforts to fight crime.

But before the speech, Trump spoke with Fox News reporter Alexis McAdams and spoke about Iran, and specifically the Strait of Hormuz.

“We totally control, we own, in the true sense, we own the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump told McAdams, “We only allow boats to come in if we want them to come in.”

Trump said the blockade is costing Tehran “hundreds of millions of dollars every single day” and argued sweeping U.S. sanctions are also squeezing the regime.

“If they hit, we would hit back 100 times harder,” Trump warned. “They cannot have nuclear weapons. It’s very simple."

As for the speech, it started with a reminder for the raucous crowd, about the "four years in hell" under Joe Biden, and the Democrats push to defund the police.

In 2025, the United States saw its steepest year over year decline in violent crime, murder rates dropping to their lowest rate ever, and a record number of criminals on the FBI’s Most Wanted List captured.

In just the first half of 2026, murder-rates are on track to hit new record lows, and robberies, rapes, aggravated assaults, and overall violent crime are all falling steeply.

President Trump also added that anyone convicted of killing a police officer should face the death penalty.
