Former San Antonio Police Officer James Brennand has had the case against him in the 2022 shooting of 17-year-old Eric Cantu dismissed.
Despite body camera footage showing Brennand being struck by Cantu’s vehicle moments before the shooting, Brennand was fired and later indicted for the incident.
The case was set to go to trial next week, but following an investigation into Cantu in a separate case, the charges against Brennand were dismissed.
The District Attorney’s office had sought to delay the trial.
