The hostilities are ramping up again in the Middle East as the US says it's retaliating after Iran shot at a ship in the Strait of Hormuz.
US military leaders said Saturday evening US time that it's resumed strikes on Iranian territory after what an attack on a merchant ship earlier in the day.
U.S. Central Command said in a post on X that its forces “began launching the third round of strikes this week against Iran after Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces blatantly attacked M/V GFS Galaxy, a Cyprus-flagged container ship transiting the Strait of Hormuz.”
The strikes come in an unusually heightened atmosphere of tension after Iran's supreme leader threatened revenge for the death of the nation's ayatollah and reports continue that there have been plans to assassinate President Donald Trump.
President Trump said he has standing orders that if he is assassinated, Iran should be "obliterated" in return.
