According to reports from our TV partner News4SA, two men have been arrested after roughly 1,200 pounds of methamphetamine were discovered hidden in a shipment of lettuce.
According to a criminal complaint, Gerardo Pineda-Gallegos and Jose Lopez-Ruiz received the shipments of meth at a wholesale produce warehouse. The drugs were spread out through 100 boxes of lettuce.
The meth was reportedly stored in 8-ball-shaped packages that were then hidden inside the heads of lettuce.
Both Pineda-Gallegos and Lopez-Ruiz have been charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.
