Filling the Ranks: ICE Sees Surge in Applications

When it comes to enforcing federal law, the Trump administration is looking for a few good men and women...and finding much more than that. The Department of Homeland Security reports that Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has received more than 200,000 job applications since launching its latest recruiting effort last summer. Those applications are for about 10,000 new positions. At the same time, the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) are reporting near-record levels of job applications in recent months.

The surge in applications for ICE comes even after the agency has been vilified by Democrats and liberal media outlets, leading to threats and violent attacks against agents. Bob Price, who covers the border and immigration for Breitbart Texas, says morale has improved greatly for ICE under the Trump administration. "But this also shows that the morale of the country is up," he tells KTRH. "When you combine this with the strong military recruitment that is going on, and other law enforcement agencies that are seeing upticks, it shows the country is very happy with what President Donald Trump is doing, and they want to help in any way that they can."

The hiring surge is funded by billions of dollars allocated in the One Big Beautiful Bill, and it's needed in order for the Trump administration to carry out the president's mass deportation orders. "That's why you're seeing this whole-of-government approach the administration is taking," says Price. "It's not just ICE, it's ATF agents, DEA agents, FBI, State Department security police...every agency in the government is working to help the president achieve his goals of trying to fix the chaos and lawlessness that was set upon the country by the Biden administration."
