As the longest government shutdown in history continues, you probably won't be surprised at the how the 'mainstream' media has covered it.
Basically, it's been -all- about defending the Democrats.
"Fairly remarkable, the media are basically trying to exonerate Democrats from any amount of culpability they have in this shutdown" said Bill D'Agostino, senior research analyst for the Media Research Center & NewsBusters.
And their research shows, the numbers don't lie.
"What we found was that there were only 12 instances where anybody on one of the 3 broadcast networks actually mentioned that it was Senate Democrats that were causing the government shutdown" D'Agostino told KTRH, "In general, across all of the coverage, when you break it down by various categories we found 83 statements favoring the Democratic argument, and only 12 statements favoring the Republican argument. That's a 87% - 13% tilt for Democrats."
Numbers aside, the motives behind the bias is obvious.
"There is simply no excuse for them to be skewing the coverage in the way that they're skewing it right now, unless they are explicitly acting on a political agenda" noted D'Agostino.
That is exactly what they are doing. It's not journalism, it's activism.
It's also worth noting, that not a single network report mentioned that Democrats voted back in March to end the same Obamacare subsidies which they’re now demanding.
