According to new polling data from a YouGov/Economist survey, President Trump continues to grow in popularity, even among millennials, who traditionally have leaned more toward the left and Democratic politicians.
According to the poll, conducted between May 9 and May 12, Trump’s approval among millennials jumped a full 10 points, all the way up to 48 percent. This is despite the constant negative coverage that Trump and his team have received from the mainstream media.
Christian Collins with the Texas Youth Summit said that hasn’t swayed younger voters, who are looking at results. According to Collins, "They see that behind all the tariffs and the deals that he’s making, he does have the best intentions to make lives easier. He’s getting the job done."
Collins went on to point out that for the Democratic Party, which relies heavily on a coalition of minority and young voters, this should cause major concern. He said, "They must be concerned. I mean, they lost Hispanic men especially during the last election. And now they’re losing millennials, they’re losing young men."
Collins believes this swing of young people toward Trump is likely to continue because they value his brand of authenticity and can see that his policies are making their lives easier.
