A Houston-area birthday party turned violent on Saturday night when an angry man walked up to a home and shot several people.
Harris County Sheriff's Department deputies have been trying to piece together the events, to understand why the neighbor showed up at the house on Bradfield Manor Drive not far from Lake Houston and got into an argument with partygoers.
Investigators say that neighbor, identified as 63-year-old James Thompson, walked over, brandished a gun and then "shot at everyone who was standing in the driveway," as Sheriff Ed Gonzales put it.
"Several individuals attending the party returned fire" against Thompson.
Both Thompson and the owner of the home where the party was proceeding were injured and taken to hospitals.
Sheriff Gonzales said Sunday that Thompson is being charged with three counts of aggravated assault and one count of tampering with evidence.
