Sheriff's Deputies Arrest Smash-and-Grabbers Ring

A ring of smash-and-grab thieves has been busted up by Harris County Sheriff's deputies, and now four men are in jail with serious charges pending against them.

All four are said to face first degree felonies charges for taking part in organized criminal activity with a deadly weapon, in addition to committing aggravated robbery.

The oldest of the suspects is 51, the youngest is 22.

The four are suspected of running into jewelry stores inside Houston-area supermarkets, smashing up cases and grabbing valuables worth thousands of dollars.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzales indicates they're a criminal network who've specialized in retail grocers' smash-and-grabs, but not just in the Houston area.

Besides hitting stores at 3050 N Fry Rd and at 11303 Veterans Memorial during the last two months of last year, but there are indications that they may have done the same things at stores in the Dallas area.
