According to new polling, Republican men, and now even Republican women, are both more likely than Democratic men to become gun owners. Republican women are realizing that a firearm might be the key to their safety.
Chris McNutt, President of Texas Gun Rights, told KTRH that this is exactly what the Second Amendment is meant for. He said, "It's the great equalizer. If there's somebody that's bigger or stronger than you, there's not much that you can do in a fighting scenario, unless you have a firearm for self-defense."
McNutt also went on to point out that across America, people have realized that they can't rely solely on police for protection. He said, "When every second counts, the police are often minutes away. So having that firearm to be able to respond at a moment's notice, it's the critical key to saving your life in many instances."
He says he hopes this trend keeps up, and that encouraging more women to become responsible and prepared gun owners is a key priority for Texas Gun Rights. The good news, according to recent polling from Gallup, is that the number of Republican women who own guns has risen by 50% since 2018.
