"Follow Your Bliss."
These three words, articulated by the profound thinker Joseph Campbell, hold a deeper significance than their simplicity might suggest.
Campbell dedicated his life to the study of global mythologies and religions, discovering recurring motifs across cultures. One such motif is "The Hero's Journey," a narrative pattern that not only forms the backbone of humanity's most captivating stories but also resonates deeply within our own psyche and DNA.
To "Follow Your Bliss" is to embrace your passion, your soul's calling. It's about pursuing what you are inherently drawn to, the path that feels most authentically yours. It's not just about finding joy but about fulfilling your purpose, contributing your unique gifts to the world.
Campbell eloquently elaborates:
“Follow your bliss.
If you do follow your bliss,
you put yourself on a kind of track
that has been there all the while waiting for you,
and the life you ought to be living
is the one you are living.
When you can see that,
you begin to meet people
who are in the field of your bliss,
and they open the doors to you.
I say, follow your bliss and don't be afraid,
and doors will open
where you didn't know they were going to be.
If you follow your bliss,
doors will open for you that wouldn't have opened for anyone else.”
This guidance isn't just about seeking happiness. It's about aligning with your true path, one that is uniquely yours. In doing so, you not only find fulfillment but also connect with others on similar journeys, opening up possibilities and opportunities previously unseen.
So, when you hear "Follow Your Bliss," think of it as an invitation to align with your deepest desires and potential, an encouragement to live the life that's most genuinely and uniquely yours.
