1200 WOAI listeners came together over the course of the two day Elf Louise Radiothon to pledge over $202,000 to provide Christmas toys to children in our community who otherwise might not have a Merry Christmas.
The Elf Louise Christmas Project began in 1969 when Louise Locker, then a student at Trinity University, acquired children's letters to Santa from the local post office and began delivering presents to underprivileged kids.
The project has grown to serve thousands of families across South Texas.
The Radiothon aired on December 1st and 2nd.
Executive Director Bill Harrison reports that the total of pledges through the weekend reached $202,071.
