A public education bill that received its initial approval on Tuesday now goes before the full Senate for a vote. The Senate Education Committee voted 10-2 along party lines to advance Senate Bill 8. The bill would give parents access to up to $8,000 in taxpayer funding per student to pay for a child's private schooling, including tuition, textbooks, and tutoring. The bill would also restrict classroom lessons about sexual orientation.
