The Battle of Flowers® Parade honors the heroic spirit of the patriots of the Alamo, commemorates the victory of San Jacinto and celebrates the diversity and heritage of Texas and our nation. As the second largest day parade in the U.S., the Battle of Flowers® Parade supports the educational, artistic, social and philanthropic achievements of our community’s youth. The Battle of Flowers® Parade holds the distinction of being the first celebration to be held in Alamo Plaza and is considered the founding event of Fiesta® San Antonio. The parade has entertained our city every year since 1891, except during World Wars I and II. This parade is the only parade in the nation produced entirely by volunteer women and affords non-profit organizations the opportunity to raise funds with over 45,000 parade seats sold by charities along the parade route each year.

The 2019 Battle of Flowers Parade will travel through Texas to discover what liest at the core of the State boasting the biggest heart with the theme, “For the Love of Texas!”

Admission is $12 – $25.  Tickets available for purchase at www.battleofflowers.org and at The Fiesta Store®.

BLAST FROM FIESTA PAST | WITTE MUSEUM | 10AM – 5PM

It was the spring of 1969 and San Antonio’s Fiesta celebration captured the spirit of the day. Fiesta gowns from the Order of the Alamo’s Court of Time and Space will have you reaching for the stars with designs inspired by the science and technology that helped the United States put a man on the moon in July of that year. Visitors are invited to separate science fact from science fiction with fiesta gowns and costumes inspired by comic books, film and art. From the Queen of Soul to El Rey Feo, 1969 was also a time when Fiesta royal traditions began to evolve to reflect the atmosphere of the civil rights movement and embrace the beauty and diversity of San Antonio. Learn how Fiesta royalty in 1969 helped pave the way for fiesta royalty today.
