Most San Antonio City Pools Still Closed For Lack Of Lifeguards

Most of the 25 city pools in San Antonio are still closed because of the shortage of lifeguards. Only eight of the pools have opened up on weekends, and the city's Parks and Recreation Department doesn't have a timeline as to when or if the other pools will open. The department says it depends on whether they'll be able to fill 75 to 90 open lifeguard positions. In the meantime, many families are making do with splash pads, which don't rely on lifeguards because they involve no risk of drowning.
