1 President Trump Says The US Will "Take Over" The Gaza Strip

During a visit to the White House by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday, President Donald Trump announced his intention for the United States to “take over” or "own" the Gaza Strip, level the area, and then rebuild it. As for what the Palestinians should do, Trump said they should leave the area. “They instead can occupy all of a beautiful area with homes and safety, and they can live out their lives in peace and harmony,” Trump said, going on to talk about creating areas for the Palestinian people to live, possibly in other countries. Trump also said that other countries would foot the bill for the project, saying “This can be paid for by neighboring countries of great wealth.” After a reporter shouted that the Gaza Strip was those people’s home, Trump replied in part by saying “The only reason the Palestinians want to go back to Gaza is they have no alternative.” He referred to history repeating itself in the conflict-prone Middle East, and said “But the Riviera of the Middle East, this could be something that could be so…magnificent.” Netanyahu praised Trump’s plan, saying “I believe, Mr. President, that your willingness to puncture conventional thinking, thinking that has failed time and time and time again, your willingness to think outside the box with fresh ideas will help us achieve all these goals.”

2 Pam Bondi Confirmed As Attorney General, Cabinet Nominations For RFK Jr., Gabbard Advance

There was plenty of action on President Trump’s nominees for three cabinet positions yesterday, with one confirmation and two others advancing to a vote by the full Senate. Pam Bondi, the nominee for Attorney General, was confirmed by the full Senate with a 54 to 46 vote. One Democrat, Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, joined all Republicans in voting for Bondi. The new Attorney General previously served two terms as Florida’s attorney general. The Senate Finance Committee voted 14-13 yesterday to advance Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to a vote by the full Senate to become Trump’s Secretary of Health and Human Services. Louisiana Republican Bill Cassidy, who had been wavering in his support for RFK Jr. over concerns about Kennedy’s opinion on vaccines, decided to support the nomination after several conversations with Kennedy. Cassidy is a longtime doctor. A 9-8 vote along party lines in the Senate Intelligence Committee advanced former Tulsi Gabbard to a vote by the full Senate. Gabbard, a former Democratic representative from Hawaii, had plenty of contentious moments during her confirmation hearings over everything from Edward Snowden to Syria. Senate votes on Kennedy and Gabbard will most likely happen this week or next week.

3 Trump Administration Sends First Group Of Migrant Detainees To Guantanamo Bay

The order from President Donald Trump to house migrant detainees at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base is underway. Yesterday afternoon, a plane carrying 10 migrant detainees classified as “high threat” made the trip to the base. ICE has ramped up immigration operations across the country over the last two weeks, averaging between 800 and 1-thousand daily arrests in the past week. The immigrants being sent to Guantanamo Bay will be those considered a danger, most with criminal records. A US official told CBS News that the first transport carried Venezuelan men with affiliations to Tren De Aragua, a gang that started in Venezuelan prisons.
