1 Man Drives Through New Orleans Crowd Celebrating New Year’s Eve Killing 10

A vehicle drove into a crowd on New Orleans famous Bourbon Street as the New Year’s celebrations were underway overnight yesterday, killing at least 15 people are dead and leaving 35 injured. The FBI says it believes the suspect who drove through a crowded Bourbon Street in New Orleans at 3:15 local time yesterday morning was not acting alone and is asking for the public’s help. FBI spokesperson Alethea Duncan said at a news conference the suspect has been identified and he was a U.S-born citizen and Army veteran from Texas. An ISIS flag was found on the trailer hitch of the pickup truck that he used to plow through the crowd. She said weapons and IEDs were located in the vehicle. They were in coolers and wired for remote detonation. The agency is calling this an act of terrorism. Duncan said that after the man drove through the crowd, he exchanged fire with two police officers. They returned fire and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Two officers were injured and taken to local hospitals. Authorities say three men and one woman were seen on video placing an explosive in the city’s French Quarter. There are reports that they are not being suspects. The FBI was in the area of North Houston, Texas yesterday as part of the investigation.

2 Fireworks, gas tanks and camping fuel used in Tesla Cybertruck explosion outside Las Vegas Trump Hotel

Authorities believe fireworks, gas tanks and camping fuel were connected to a detonation system controlled by the driver in the Tesla Cybertruck that exploded outside a Trump Hotel in Las Vegas Wednesday morning, according to a law enforcement official briefed on the investigation. The FBI is working to determine whether the incident was a terrorist act, Jeremy Schwartz, acting special agent in charge for the FBI’s Las Vegas office, said Wednesday. The agency believes it was an isolated incident and there is no further danger to the public, Schwartz noted. A vehicle fire was reported at the hotel just after 8:40 a.m, and crews arrived to find a 2024 Cybertruck engulfed in flames, Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill said during a news conference. There is one person dead inside the Cybertruck, where the body remains as authorities continue their investigation, McMahill said Wednesday evening. Seven victims were hurt by the explosion, all of whom are in stable condition, Deputy Fire Chief Billy Samuels said. The vehicle was rented in Colorado and arrived in Las Vegas at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, McMahill said. About an hour later, after driving up and down Las Vegas Boulevard, the truck pulled up to the Trump Hotel and exploded, authorities said Wednesday evening.

3 Arctic Blast Could Drop Temps Across Texas, Including San Antonio

There really is an arctic blast and polar vortex headed for Texas, y’all. And while some forecasters say it’s too early to tell, others say it’ll be a sustained bit of winter weather for the Lone Star State – and we could even see some snow. Texas isn’t exactly famous for having strong winters. In fact, average afternoon temperatures in San Antonio hover around the mid 60s. But a strong series of cold fronts forming could mean more than a week of temperatures in Texas well below average, marking the first prolonged set of winter weather to hit the majority of the state since the season started. For San Antonio, this could mean several days with afternoons in the upper 40s to mid 50s – a far cry from the nearly 80-degree days that have loomed over the area this winter. And it’ll be even colder the further north you go. This is all supposed to kick off Monday. But the coldest days, says DaSilva, will be in a second and third wave of fronts moving in (think January 7 to 8 and January 10 to 11). The national weatherman says this arctic blast is actually a series of three fronts all slated to move in one after the other over that weeklong period.
