1 Man With Loaded Gun Arrested At Donald Trump's Coachella Rally Saturday

A Nevada man was arrested at a security checkpoint outside Donald Trump’s Coachella rally on Saturday, Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco said at a news conference yesterday that the man was driving an unregistered black SUV with a “homemade” license plate, and had a shotgun, a loaded handgun, ammunition, and several fake passports. The driver claimed to be a journalist. Bianco said he felt like his deputies had prevented a third assassination attempt on the former president, but later walked that comment back.

2 President Biden Announces More Than $600-Million For Milton Recovery

President Joe Biden toured the St. Pete Beach region in Florida yesterday and announced more federal aid. Biden said that $600-million in aid will be going to areas affected by Hurricanes Milton and Helene, saying, “We’re going to do everything we can to get power back in your homes, not only helping you recover, but to help you build back stronger.” The president went on to say that “In moments like this, we come together, not as Democrats or Republicans, but as Americans…We are one United States.” Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said last week that FEMA will be able to meet “immediate needs,” but that the agency doesn’t have enough funding to last until the end of hurricane season on November 30th. President Biden has called on Congress, which is adjourned until after the election, to return to Washington to pass additional FEMA funding to deal with the devastation left by the two hurricanes.

3 Starship Rocket Booster Caught By Arms Of Launch Tower In Historic First

The fifth test flight of the largest rocket to ever lift off happened without a hitch for SpaceX yesterday, and ended with a historic first. The over 20-story rocket launched just before 8:30 am Eastern time yesterday near Brownsville, Texas, sending the Starship capsule into space, where it traveled halfway around the Earth before splashing down in the Indian Ocean as planned. The historic part came when the enormous “Super Heavy” rocket returned to the launch tower, lowering itself down until it was caught by two arms on the tower. SpaceX communications manager Dan Huot put it best on the company’s webcast of the launch: “Are you kidding me? What we just saw, that looked like magic.”
