1 Democratic National Convention - Night Two

Last night was the time to shine for the Obamas at the Democratic National Convention, but they weren’t the only ones to take the stage in front of a lively crowd of delegates in Chicago. One of the biggest surprises of the night was the primetime speaking slot for a Republican, Mayor John Giles of Mesa, Arizona, who said, “I’m a lifelong Republican. So, I feel a little out of place tonight. But I feel more at home here than in today’s Republican Party.” A standing ovation welcomed former First Lady Michelle Obama to the stage at the United Center last night, commenting on the change in atmosphere for the election. Former President Barack Obama, the keynote speaker for night two, took several sharp jabs at Trump, including when he called Trump “a 78-year-old billionaire who has not stopped whining about his problems since he rode down his golden escalator.”

2 Antony Blinken Ends Middle East Visit With No Ceasefire

The ninth visit to the Middle East since the war between Israel and Hamas broke out is over for Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and again he’s returning without a ceasefire deal being reached. After meeting with his counterparts in Egypt and Qatar, Blinken said that Israel had agreed to a new proposal that bridged gaps with Hamas, but the militant group has yet to agree to the proposal. Few details were released about the proposed deal, but Hamas said yesterday that the latest proposal was a reversal of what it had agreed to, and there was no immediate response to that from the US. Hamas is still believed to be holding around 110 hostages from the October 7th attacks where over a thousand people were killed. Israel’s military announced yesterday that it had recovered the bodies of six more of the hostages.

3 RFK Jr. Considering Dropping Out Of Race And Endorsing Trump

Nicole Shanahan, the running mate of independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., gave an indication that the campaign trail may be nearing its end for the duo. Saying they’re looking at two options, Shanahan said they could stay in and form a new party, “or we walk away right now and join forces with Donald Trump.” Shanahan said in a statement to “ABC News” that the move would “require a significant commitment by Trump to give Bobby true authority to execute.” She didn’t give any further details on what that might look like, so the RFK Jr. campaign is now in “wait and see” mode.
