1 Former President Trump Says He's Picked His Running Mate

In the middle of a weekend of campaign stops, former President Donald Trump said he’s decided who his pick will be for a running mate. An “NBC News” reporter caught up with Trump in Philadelphia and asked him if he had decided on his pick, Trump replied with “In my mind, yeah,” then confirmed that “nobody knows” who he’s decided on except him. He did say that his potential pick will be at the CNN presidential debate this week with President Joe Biden. “I think we have a lot of people coming,” Trump said. “NBC News” says that sources tell them the former president’s top two finalists for the vice presidential slot on the Republican ticket are North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum and Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, but Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is also considered a top contender. In a statement, senior campaign adviser Brian Hughes said the top thing Trump is looking for in a running mate “is a strong leader who will make a great President for eight years after his next four year term concludes.”
