1 Trump Guilty On All Counts, Will Make Speech This Morning
At the end of their second day of deliberations, the jury in the criminal case against former President Donald Trump reached a verdict. With most in the courtroom expecting the jury to be dismissed before returning today, the 12 men and women instead sent a note out to Judge Juan Merchan saying they had reached a verdict. The result of the 9.5-hours of deliberations over the last two days…verdicts of guilty on all 34 of the felony counts Trump was charged with. Trump attorney Todd Blanche immediately argued for a motion of acquittal, which was denied by Merchan, who ordered Trump’s sentencing hearing to start at 10 am on July 11th, just four days before the Republican National Convention opens. Trump won’t be officially considered a felon until he’s sentenced; he faces a possible sentence of a fine, probation, or up to four years in prison. Trump announced last night that he’ll hold a news conference in the atrium of Trump Tower today at 10 am.
2 Author Chad Daybell Found Guilty In Triple-Murder Case
A jury found Chad Daybell guilty yesterday in the murders of his first wife and his second wife’s two children. Prosecutors said the murders were part of a plot seeking “money, power, and sex.” Over a year ago, Daybell’s second wife, Lori Vallow, was also convicted of murdering her two youngest children, ages seven and 16, in a “doomsday plot.” Prosecutors said the two believed the children were “dark spirits” and “zombies.” Prosecutors say they plan to seek the death penalty for Chad Daybell.
3 Storm Causes Temperature In Texas Town To Fall 50 Degrees In An Hour On Wednesday
Severe weather continues to cause problems for the middle of the country, but it caused a strange effect on Wednesday in Texas. The temperature in Marathon, Texas fell more than 50 degrees over an hour, dropping from around 105-degrees down to the mid-50s. Brian Curran, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service, said the plummet in temperature was caused by a severe hail storm that hit the town that day. Brad Wilson, chief of the Marathon Fire Department, said there was about two feet of hail on the town’s main street after the storm passed, which had to be cleared away with plows. The problems didn’t stop Wednesday; Wilson said the town recorded around 2.5-inches of rain in an hour yesterday.
