1 Biden Administration Considering Executive Action To Deal With Illegal Immigrants
As expected, Senate Republicans tanked the bipartisan border security and foreign aid bill yesterday. The Senate voted 49-50 to stop the bill after Republicans voted against the bill they had fought to arrange. The reason given was that the bill didn’t do enough to crack down on illegal immigration. Aid for Israel and Ukraine were included in the bill, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said he plans to introduce new legislation for the $118-billion aid package with no border security provisions included. He also announced that the Senate would be adjourned until noon today to “give our Republican colleagues the night to figure themselves out.” With no legislation currently in the works to address the border, it was revealed yesterday that President Joe Biden is considering executive orders to try to get illegal immigration at the southern border under control. Officials say the plans have been under consideration for months, and officials say the orders will likely upset some progressives in Congress. Officials also told NBC News that the measures are still being drafted and aren’t expected to be put into place anytime soon.

The area where the debris field from the copter is in rugged terrain, described as muddy and slippery with a heavy snow falling. By last night, snow accumulation was forecast to be four to six inches in some parts of the search area. The five Marines were assigned to marine heavy Helicopter Squadron 361 out of Creech Air Force Base in Clark County, Nevada. Winds were reportedly gusting up to 20 mph Tuesday evening in the area where the helicopter crashed, with stronger winds likely at higher elevations. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that President Joe Biden had been briefed on the situation, and White House national security spokesperson John Kirby said administration officials were “watching this closely.”
