1 House Republicans Fail To Impeach Mayorkas Or Pass Israel Aid Bill, Senate Immigration And Aid Bill Appears Dead

House Republicans did not have a good day on Capitol Hill yesterday and are said to have been a major reason why a bipartisan Senate bill is a non-starter. The monthslong attempt to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas failed yesterday after Utah Rep. Blake Moore changed his vote to “nay,” bringing the number of Republicans who voted against the measure to four and breaking a 215-215 tie. Moore’s switch made the final count of Republicans voting against the measure to four. The House also failed to pass a stand-alone aid bill for Israel yesterday with a 250-180 vote; the bill needed a two-thirds majority to pass. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said in a press conference yesterday that the notice from House Speaker Mike Johnson saying that the bipartisan Senate bill dealing with immigration and aid for Israel and Ukraine would be “dead on arrival” in the House meant there wasn’t a path for the legislation to become law.

2 Jennifer Crumbley Found Guilty Of Involuntary Manslaughter In Son's School Shooting

In a rare case of parents being charged in connection with crimes committed by their child, the jury returned four guilty verdicts for involuntary manslaughter against Jennifer Crumbley yesterday. The mother of Michigan school shooter Ethan Crumbley was convicted after the jury deliberated for around 11 hours, and the jury foreperson told ABC News as she was leaving the courthouse that the verdict “came down to the fact that Jennifer was the last adult with the gun.” Ethan Crumbley, who was 15 at the time, pleaded guilty to 24 charges in connection with the shooting at Oxford High School in 2021, and is serving a sentence of life in prison. Ethan’s father James has also been charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter for the deaths of Madisyn Baldwin, Tate Myre, Justin Shilling, and Hana St. Juliana, and will have a separate trial in March. It was revealed during the trial that Jennifer was in the middle of a six-month affair with Brian Meloche at the time of the shooting, and prosecutors alleged that Jennifer had spent most of her time on the affair and tending to her horses and left Ethan alone and ignored his messages.

3 Preliminary NTSB Report Says Alaska Airlines Plane That Lost A Door After Takeoff Had Missing Bolts

The National Transportation Safety Board released a preliminary report on the Alaska Airlines flight that saw a door plug fly off the Boeing 737 Max 9 plane shortly after takeoff, and the report says that four bolts were missing from the door when the accident happened last month. The door plug is typically secured to the plane with four bolts to prevent it from moving vertically. The FAA is also conducting an investigation into Boeing’s 737 Max 9 aircraft to determine if the company’s aircraft “were in a condition for safe operation in compliance with FAA regulations.”
