1 Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Suspends Presidential Campaign

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has suspended his presidential campaign. The Republican ended his bid for the big job yesterday just before the New Hampshire primary. What’s more, he’s now endorsing Donald Trump, with whom he was locked in a bitter rivalry. “It’s clear to me that a majority of Republican primary voters want to give Donald Trump another chance,” DeSantis said in a video, adding that America doesn't need “the old Republican guard of yesteryear” and can’t go back to “a repackaged form of warmed-over corporatism that Nikki Haley represents.” DeSantis entered the 2024 presidential contest with some big advantages. Not only did he have a legislative record that was consistent with conservative values, but he had a political fund of over $130-million. However, after losing the Iowa caucuses by 30 points to Trump, he decided to bow out. As for the big endorsement, the Governor decided to back Trump despite the bad blood between them. “While I’ve had disagreements with Donald Trump, such as on the coronavirus pandemic and his elevation of Anthony Fauci, Trump is superior to the current incumbent, Joe Biden. That is clear,” said DeSantis. This comes on the heels of Trump and his staffers accusing DeSantis of wearing high-heeled shoes to appear taller, as well as taking shots at his personality, nicknaming him “Ron DeSanctimonious,” and even trolling his eating habits. DeSantis is currently in his final term as Florida’s governor, which ends in January 2027

2 Uvalde County Grand Jury Is Investigating Response To School Shooting After DOJ Report

A grand jury is in the process of figuring out whether to criminally charge police officers for the botched response to the Robb Elementary shooting in Uvalde, Texas in 2022. This comes on the heels of a scathing Department of Justice reporting which called that day a series of "cascading failures.” The brutal day found 376 officers from 23 departments took 77 minutes to breach two classrooms where students and teachers were both injured and deceased. The grand jury is expected to spend at least six months on the investigation. As we reported on May 24th 2022, 19 children and two teachers were killed at the Robb Elementary School while trapped inside by a teenage gunman.

3 Dangerously Cold Weather Continues Moving Through Midwest And South

A "deep freeze" continued to spread across the east yesterday and will be on the move through the Midwest and the South in the coming days. Unfortunately for Kansans, Oklahomans, and those in the Great Lakes region, sleet is coming for them over the next two days, according to the National Weather Service. Tens of millions dealt with frigid temps and scary weather conditions as more than 60 people were claimed by weather-related deaths. Most of those 60 deaths occurred in Tennessee, where temps hovered around 0 degrees Fahrenheit. Fortunately, the NWS says the weather should warm in that area as the week progresses. However, many parts of the US will still need to do what they can to stay warm as "Sub-freezing temperatures will reach as far south as central Texas and northern Florida while sub-zero temperatures will be found across the upper Midwest," according to the weather service.
