1 Israel-Hamas War: 14 Palestinians Killed by Israeli Strikes Since Ceasefire Expired
Gaza’s health ministry has said 14 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli airstrikes since the truce expired this morning. The figure provided by the Hamas-run ministry. Al Jazeera journalist Hind Khoudary had earlier said that at least six had been killed in an attack on a house in Rafah and in Khan Younis. Another seven were also killed in the Maghazi area. Israel has also been asking residents in certain neighbourhoods of Khan Younis to leave before an expected attack in the area. “The Israeli forces are dropping leaflets for people in Khan Younis asking them to evacuate to Rafah but they are also targeting Rafah,” Khoudary said.
2 A Gag Order Has Been Reinstated Against Former President Donald Trump
A New York appeals court Thursday reinstated a gag order that barred Donald Trump from commenting about court personnel after the former president repeatedly disparaged a law clerk in his New York civil fraud trial. The one-sentence decision came two weeks after an individual appellate judge put the gag order on hold while the appeals process played out. Trial judge Arthur Engoron, who imposed the restriction, said he now planned to enforce it “rigorously and vigorously.” Trump attorney Christopher Kise called it “a tragic day for the rule of law.” Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, complained that the gag order was “nothing but attempted election interference, which is failing terribly.”
3 House Will Vote On Expulsion Of Rep. George Santos Today
Embattled Representative George Santos is facing his third expulsion vote today and refused to go quietly as he defended himself during an hourlong debate on the House floor yesterday. Multiple fellow Republicans argued for his removal, calling him a "total fraud and serial liar." However, Santos and his supporters argued that the New York congressman's removal would set a “dangerous precedent” and that it’s not what the people who elected him want. "Every member expelled in history of this institution has been convicted of crimes or Confederate turncoats guilty of treason. Neither of those apply to me, but here we are," Santos said.
