1 Israel Says Body of Hostage Found in Gaza

As Israeli forces combed through Gaza City's Al Shifa Hospital for traces of Hamas for another day, the body of one of the approximately 240 people kidnapped in Israel during the Oct. 7 Hamas rampage was recovered in a building nearby, the Israeli military said Thursday. Newborns and hundreds of other patients have suffered for days without electricity and other basic necessities in the hospital. Now, Israel is under pressure to prove its claim that Hamas had turned the hospital into a command center that launched its brutal attack that killed about 1,200 people and provoked Israel's reprisal seeking to dislodge the militant group from Gaza.

2 David DePape Found Guilty in Paul Pelosi Hammer Attack

A jury convicted David DePape, the man who attacked and bludgeoned former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband, of federal assault and attempted kidnapping charges Thursday. DePape broke into the former speaker's home last year and attacked her 83-year-old husband, Paul Pelosi, in search of her. The attack was caught on policy body camera footage and reignited a debate on political violence in the U.S. DePape was found to be an avid supporter of far-right conspiracy theories. Nancy Pelosi was not at her home at the time. The jury deliberated over the case for over eight hours before delivering the verdict. DePape faces up to 50 years in federal prison. During the trial, DePape admitted in his testimony that he intended to hold Nancy Pelosi hostage and “break her kneecaps,” if she lied to him in an attempt to expose government corruption. DePape also faces state charges including: assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, residential burglary and other felonies.\

3 George Santos Says He Won't Run For Re-Election After New Evidence Emerges

With a scathing report from the Ethics Committee released yesterday, Rep. George Santos announced that won’t run for another term. The report on the freshman congressman from New York said that the committee’s investigative subcommittee “unanimously concluded that there was substantial evidence” that Santos filed incomplete or false reports, engaged in fraudulent conduct, and used campaign fund for person uses. It’s that last category of activity that’s getting the most attention. In the 56-page report, the committee says Santos used campaign funds for a list of personal expenses, including:$50,000 to pay credit card bills and other debts, $4,127 for a purchase at the luxury store Hermes, $1,400 at Virtual Skin Spa for “Botox”, $1,029 to an esthetician at a different spa. Smaller purchases for meals, parking, at Sephora, and at OnlyFans Mississippi Republican Rep. Michael Guest, the Ethics Committee chairman, said the report should “be enough for members to be able to make a decision as to whether or not they believe it would be proper to expel Rep. Santos.” It’s expected that another vote to expel him from the House could be held shortly after Congress returns to Washington after the Thanksgiving recess.
