1 Trump Spends A Fiery Day Testifying In New York Trial

Former President Donald Trump testified under oath in New York yesterday in the civil trial brought against him by New York Attorney General Letitia James, and it wasn’t a sedate testimony. During his four hours of testimony, Trump strayed from the questions he had been asked, giving wide-ranging answers that led to several reprimands from Judge Arthur Engoron. The state is alleging that Trump, his two oldest sons, the Trump Organization, and several executives of a fraud scheme that stretched over years. The trial is looking to get $250 million from Trump and limit he and his family’s ability to do business in New York. His testimony could be best exemplified by the exchange where he said “The numbers of my net worth are substantially more than the number you have in the financial statement, therefore you have no case.” At one point, Engoron told the Trump teams’ attorney to control the former president, saying “I will excuse him and draw every negative inference I can.” He was excused from the witness stand just before 3:30 p.m. after his defense team declined to ask him any questions.

3 President Biden Showcases $16 Billion For Rail Travel In Delaware Speech

At a stop at a train maintenance shop in Bear, Delaware yesterday, President Joe Biden showed off over $16 billion in federal investments he said will be made in rail travel along the Northeast Corridor. The spending will be used to modernize 25 different passenger train projects between Boston and Washington. Amtrak runs around 800,000 trips in the region every day, and Biden said that if the rail system in the region stopped it would cost the country $100 million per day. The funding for the project comes from the $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure law that Biden signed almost two years ago, and the $16 billion isn’t all that’s going to rail. As part of the law, Amtrak will get around $66 billion in new investments according to the White House.
