1 Weekend Mass Shootings In Indianapolis, Tampa, Chicago, Atlanta, And Texarkana Leave At Least Six Dead

Mass shootings continued around the country over the weekend, with at least six people killed and over 40 injured in shootings around the country. Three people were killed and three others injured at a party in Texarkana, Texas Saturday night. Police say a fistfight broke out between two men at a party in a room at a business, then at least two men pulled out rifles and started firing. Six people ages 19 to 31 were shot, and police are looking for a 20-year-old suspect. One woman was killed and eight other people were injured at a party with around 100 people in attendance near midnight Saturday night in Indianapolis. Indiana police responded to a call on the party and found shots being fired and people running. All of the victims are between 16 and 22 years old. In Tampa, Florida, a fight broke out between two groups just before 3 a.m. yesterday at a Halloween party in the Ybor City neighborhood. Two people were killed, ages 14 and 22, and 18 others were injured. At a press conference yesterday, Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw announced the arrest of 22-year-old Tyrell Stephen Phillips, who’s charged with second-degree murder with a firearm. Bercaw credited the arrest to tips from the public. A fight at another Halloween party led to gunfire in Chicago. During the fight, someone started shooting and injured 15 people ages 26 to 53. The suspect fled the scene but was found a short distance away from the party. A shooting near Georgia State University’s Atlanta campus yesterday left four people injured. The shooting happened around 5 a.m. near the same RaceTrac gas station where another Georgia State student was shot and killed in December, and where another man was shot in April. The university confirmed yesterday that two of the four who were shot are students.

2 Maine Mass Shooter Found Dead, Had Been Reported To Authorities Weeks Ago

The body of Robert Card, the suspect being sought in the mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine last week, was found on Friday inside a tractor-trailer. Card was dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at a lot across from the Maine Recycling Corporation in Lisbon, less than a mile from where his vehicle was found. Police had cleared the area twice before but hadn’t checked the overflow parking lot that held around 60 trailers until the owner of the facility asked if they had checked it. More details continue to be revealed in the case, with the owner of a gun store saying that Card had tried to buy a silencer for a rifle a few months before the shooting. The staff at the store refused to let him purchase it when he checked the box on the application that he had been in an institution. Maine Public Safety Commissioner Mike Sauschuck said over the weekend that no evidence has been found that Card was “forcibly committed” for mental health treatment and said when it came to reports that Card had been hearing voices, authorities “don’t believe any of that is accurate.”

3 War In Israel: Israel's Ground Offensive Continues

The Israeli offensive against Gaza continued over the weekend, with Palestinians in northern Gaza reporting heavy air and artillery strikes yesterday as Israeli troops with tanks pushed into the area. Air strikes hit areas near two hospitals in Gaza, and Israel has declared that the new offensive is the “second phase” of a three-week war against Hamas militants. The humanitarian crisis continues to grow in Gaza, with thousands of residents breaking into United Nations warehouses over the weekend to grab flour and other essentials. Aid trucks continue to make their way into the country when possible.
