1 Prosecutors Expect To Ask Grand Jury For Indictment Of Hunter Biden

Prosecutors under U.S. Attorney for Delaware David Weiss, who was recently named as a special counsel in the investigation of Hunter Biden, say they expect a new indictment for the president’s son by September 29th. In court documents filed yesterday, federal prosecutors didn’t name what charges they’ll seek, but the filing came in the gun possession case where Hunter was accused of having a firearm while being a drug user. Hunter Biden’s lawyers say that prosecutors are barred from filing additional charges under an agreement the two sides previously reached in the case, which includes an immunity clause against federal prosecutions for some potential crimes. Prosecutors say the gun agreement is dead after U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika questioned it and the rest of the tentative plea deal during a July court appearance.

2 Pennsylvania Escapee Still At Large, Walked Up A Wall To Escape Prison

Today marks the start of the eighth day of the manhunt in Pennsylvania for escaped murderer Danelo Cavalcante, who broke out of the Chester County Prison on August 31st. Cavalcante was convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend by stabbing her over 30 times and was waiting to be transferred to the state prison when he escaped. The acting warden of the prison, Howard Holland, showed a video during a press conference yesterday that showed how the killer escaped the prison by “crab walking” between two walls to reach the roof of the prison, where he passed through razor wire and escaped. It was the second time that an inmate has escaped the same prison using the “crab walking” method this year, with Igor Vidra Bolte breaking out on May 19th. Bolte was recaptured around five minutes after escaping, but Holland said yesterday it was almost an hour before Cavalcante was found to be missing by prison officials. The guard on duty in the watchtower overlooking the prison yard, who didn’t see Cavalcante’s escape, has been placed on leave pending an investigation. Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bevins said at yesterday’s press conference that there was another sighting of the escaped killer Tuesday night, and he believes that Cavalcante is still in the search area police are focused on.

3 Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell Vows To Finish His Term

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell faced numerous questions about his health from reporters at a press conference yesterday, just a week after McConnell was seen freezing for 30 seconds while being asked questions by reporters in Kentucky. When asked if he plans to retire, McConnell said, “I have no announcements to make on that subject,” then followed that with a more definitive statement: “I am going to finish my term as leader, and I’m going to finish my Senate term.” Several times during the press conference, McConnell referred to a letter written by the Capitol’s attending physician, Dr. Brian Monahan, which said that there was “no evidence that you have a seizure disorder or that you experienced a stroke, TIA, or movement disorder such as Parkinson’s disease.” The Minority Leader reportedly addressed his health during the weekly closed-door GOP lunch yesterday, talking for eight minutes on the subject and taking no questions from his Republican colleagues. McConnell’s term as a Senator will end in January 2027.
