1 Severe Weather Leaves At Least Two Dead, Thousands Of Flights Disrupted

Two people were dead and close to a million were without power last night after a line of severe weather hammered the eastern part of the U.S. Police in Florence, Alabama said a 28-year-old man was struck by lightning and killed, while a 15-year-old was struck and killed by a falling tree during a storm in South Carolina. The severe storms led to thousands of flights being delayed in multiple airports, including those in Atlanta, New York, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Boston, and others. The effects of yesterday’s storms were widespread: Over a dozen rescues were made in Cambridge, Maryland after several streets had to be closed in the town due to flooding. Thirty-three adults and 14 children were trapped in their vehicles in Maryland yesterday after storms downed power lines and poles. Everyone, including a dog that was also trapped, was safely removed from the scene. Trees were also reported to be down on homes in Harford County, Maryland after a severe storm. Storms that passed through the Philadelphia and Trenton areas had wind gusts of 70 mph, with widespread wind damage in the Philadelphia area. The Philadelphia Phillies – Washington Nationals game scheduled for last night was postponed. The Phillies announced the game will be made up at 4:05 p.m. this afternoon. At the height of the weather activity, over 33 million people were under tornado watches during yesterday’s weather.

2 Gov. Ron DeSantis Admits That Trump Lost In 2020 During Interview

After years of being asked, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has finally answered the question of whether or not he thinks former President Donald Trump won the 2020 election. During an exclusive interview with NBC News’ Dasha Burns on Sunday that aired yesterday, DeSantis was asked by Burns to give a yes or no answer to the question of Trump’s defeat. He took the opportunity to say, “Whoever puts their hand on the Bible on Jan. 20th every four years is the winner.” Burns continued to push for a clear answer, and DeSantis finally responded with “No, of course he lost. Joe Biden’s the president.” That doesn’t mean DeSantis thinks the 2020 election was well-run. In fact, he went on to tell Burns that “I don’t think it was a good-run election,” then added, “But I also think Republicans didn’t fight back.” The latest polling data from FiveThirtyEight has Trump leading the field of Republican nominees with 53.3%, while DeSantis is a distant second in the field with 14.3%.

3 Trump Attorneys Want Proposed Rules Limiting Their Ability To Share Evidence Narrowed

The judge overseeing the federal indictments unsealed last week against former President Donald Trump is going to hold a hearing to decide how strict the rules will be for Trump and his attorneys when it comes to sharing evidence from the case. Special counsel Jack Smith’s team had asked for a protective order to prevent the Trump team from disclosing evidence publicly, but Trump’s legal team says it would restrict his First Amendment rights. In response to Trump’s objection, Smith’s team had one of their own. Prosecutors with the special counsel’s office say that Trump wants to avoid the protective order to “try the case in the media rather than in the courtroom.” U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan said she will hold a hearing on the proposals from both sides, a hearing that she says Trump will not have to attend. Smith’s team pointed out to the judge that Trump made several comments about the case on his Truth Social platform after they filed their request for a protective order. Trump has denied any wrongdoing and continues to say the indictments he’s facing are politically motivated.
