1 Search For Missing Sub At Titanic Wreck Site Continues

New signs of hope emerged for rescuers searching for the submersible named Titan that was lost at the site of the wreck of the Titanic Sunday morning. According to an internal U.S. government memo, sonar picked up banging sounds during the search yesterday, which were heard every 30 minutes. The noises were detected by a Canadian P-3 aircraft, which led to search teams relocating to that area to try to find where they were coming from. As of 1:30 a.m. Eastern this morning, those “searches have yielded negative results.” The five people on board the sub include Stockton Rush, the CEO and founder of OceanGate, the company leading the trip. The other four passengers are British billionaire Hamish Harding, Pakistani billionaire Shahzada Dawood and his son Sulaiman, and French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet.

2 Republicans Vow To Continue Investigating Hunter Biden After His Plea Deal

With the announcement of a plea agreement between the Trump-appointed U.S. attorney for Delaware and Hunter Biden yesterday, Republicans said it doesn’t mean they will stop investigating the president’s son. Biden is expected to plead guilty to two federal misdemeanor counts of failing to pay his taxes, with a felony gun possession charge expected to be dismissed if he meets certain conditions. Sources say U.S. Attorney David Weiss has reportedly recommended probation for the tax charges with no jail time. Speaking to the press outside his office yesterday, House Speak Kevin McCarthy said the plea deal was a sign that there’s a two-tier system of justice in America, saying you get “a sweetheart deal” if you’re the president’s son, but the Department of Justice “tries to literally put you in jail” if you’re “the president’ leading political opponent.” “This does nothing to our investigation,” McCarthy said, adding that the plea deal “actually should enhance our investigation.”

3 Rep. Laruen Boebert Is Trying To Impeach President Biden Again

Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert introduced articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden yesterday on the floor of the House and did it differently this time. Boebert unsuccessfully tried to impeach Biden in 2021, and this time she made a “privileged motion,” which means that it must be voted for on the House floor. That doesn’t mean it’ll happen, though, because House Democratic Whip Katherine Clark said in an email last night that the House would take “a procedure vote on the motion to table the resolution.” The basis being used by Boebert for her impeachment articles is accusing him of “purposefully and knowingly” releasing millions of migrants into the U.S. “without the intention or ability to ensure that they appear in immigration court to face asylum or deportation proceedings.” The same procedural move was used by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna in her attempt to censure Rep. Adam Schiff last week, a measure that was blocked in a floor vote.
