1 Trump Blasted Federal Indictment As "Baseless" At Weekend Events
Speaking at Republican state conventions in Georgia and North Carolina over the weekend, former President Donald Trump called the 37 felony counts he’s been charged with in a federal indictment as “ridiculous” and “baseless.” Trump told the crowds of supporters that the indictment is the latest in “one witch hunt after another to try to stop our movement,” before saying “In the end, they’re not coming after me. They’re coming after you.” On Saturday, Trump vowed to stay in the race for the Republican nomination for president, even if he’s convicted in the federal case. “I don’t think I’ll ever have to,” I didn’t do anything wrong.” Trump has been ordered to report for arraignment and will appear at a Florida federal courthouse tomorrow in response. Most of the other Republican candidates for president seemed to be on Trump’s side over the weekend, with former Vice-President Mike Pence, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, and others making comments at speaking events that, if elected, they’ll “clean up” the Department of Justice.
2 Section Of I-95 In Philadelphia Collapses
The main roadway that stretches between Maine and Florida will a section of it closed for months after a burning tanker truck caused a section of Interstate 95 to collapse in Philadelphia. The collapse of 500 tons of concrete trapped the tanker truck and whoever was in it, and while no deaths or injuries were reported first responders hadn’t reached the truck as of last night. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said yesterday that he’ll be making a disaster declaration today to allow the state to tap into federal funds to start rebuilding the road. “We expect that to take a number of months,” Shapiro said. Pennsylvania Transportation Secretary Mike Carroll said the interstate carries around 160,000 vehicles a day and is most likely the busiest interstate in Pennsylvania. The National Transportation Safety Board says it’s coordinating with the Pennsylvania State Police to investigate the cause of the fire.
3 Six Injured In Houston Nightclub Shooting
Six people were injured during a shooting in the parking lot of a Houston nightclub. Police responded to calls of a shooting at the Tabu nightclub just past 2 a.m. yesterday and administered aid to victims. Six people were injured in the shooting, and one victim was in critical condition yesterday after surgery. Authorities believe that a disturbance in the club carried over into the parking lot because the club was closing for the night. While no one is in custody, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said that the suspect or suspects would be found. He also offered advice for everyone as we head into summer, saying everyone needs to “be smart” as they go out to have fun.
